Environmental science is a year-long, non-laboratory course dealing with basic ecological principles. This course will include these major topics: ecological terms, the major earth biomes, alternate forms of energy, human population issues, endangered species, land management and discussions on current environmental issues. The goal of this course is to provide the student with a broad understanding of the environment and to demonstrate the interconnectedness of all things, both living and non-living.Prerequisites:
80 or higher in College Preparatory Biology AND80 or higher in College Preparatory Chemistry AND80 or higher in any College Preparatory Science courseCourse Description:
This course is designed to be equivalent to a one semester Environmental Science course taught at the collegiate level. Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary science that encompasses biology, geology, physical science, chemistry, physics as well as other non-science courses. The goal of this course is to provide students with the methodically sound scientific practices and concepts to understand the natural world and the ways that man has changed or altered relationships within it.Special Notes:
Students enrolled in this course are required to participate in a Science Competition selected by the teacher; i.e. Exploravision, Fairchild Challenge.Prerequisites:

This course is designed to be equivalent to a one semester Environmental Science course taught at the collegiate level. Topics covered are outlined in the College Board Environmental Science AP course description. This class will have a lab and fieldwork component. Final approval for placement in this course depends on an evaluation of student performance in science classes and an interview with the instructor. It is recommended that the student have had or currently be enrolled in a statistics class.Special Notes:
Students enrolled in this course are required to complete a summer assignment. Students in this course are required to take the Advanced Placement Exam; AP Exam fees will be processed through FACTS account.
