In this survey-style course, students will focus on the origins of western musical theatre from the late 1800s to modern Broadway through a humanities approach and representative literature and music. Students will explore the unique staging and technical demands of musicals, theatrical forms, plots, key numbers and inspiration for landmark musicals. In addition, students will understand the influence that culture, economics and politics have had on the musical stage; and learn about the individuals that played key roles in its development. Major works to be examined include shows from the Golden Age of Broadway to today’s Tony Award winners. Lecture and discussion based, no audition is required.Prerequisites:

In Art History Honors, students will explore the role of art in history and culture through observation and analysis of significant works of art and architecture. Course content will include an emphasis on the humanist and classical principles found in Renaissance art and architecture, as a transitional movement between medieval and modern times beginning in the 14th century and lasting to the 16th century.Prerequisites:

The Advanced Placement Art History course is designed to provide the same benefits to high school students as are provided by an introductory college course in Art History: an understanding and appreciation of paintings, sculpture, architecture, and other art forms within a cultural and historical context. Students examine the major forms of artistic expression through the history of art. The student will learn to look at works of art critically from the Stone Age to modern times.Special Notes:
