Beginner Levels
Level 1:
Swimmer will be acclimated to the water in a safe environment
Swimmer may or may not place their face in the water (will learn to do this properly in class)
Swimmer will learn to kick and float with instructor assistance
Level 2:
Swimmer is able to submerge head & face in water
Begin working on fundamentals: floating, kicking, arm movement, successful forward progress
Level 3:
Swimmer should be comfortable in main pool shallow water
Refine strokes to be effective & efficient swimmers - freestyle, backstroke, learn rhythmic breathing
Begin work in deeper water (jumping, treading & diving)
Level 4:
Swimmer should be able to swim two lengths of the lap pool without touching the bottom
Students should be comfortable with deep water
Stroke improvement & become stronger swimmers
Learn how to perform a racing start from a dive
After mastering the skills in level 4, swimmers should be well prepared for swim team
Intermediate (New and younger swim team members):
Swimmer are looking to become legal in breaststroke and butterfly
Work on aspects of a swim race (starts, turns, and finishes)
Advanced (Older swim team members):
Refining technique with a focus on competitive racing
