Qualifications:
I'm a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and Alvernia University.
I've earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education majoring in Elementary and Special Education, a Master of Education degree majoring in School Guidance and Counseling and the completion of additional credits toward Principal certification grades K-12.
Currently, I've been employed by the Blue Mountain School District for 32 years. Serving as classroom teacher for 13 years and school counselor for 19 years.
School Counselor Role & Function:
Individual & Group Counseling based on student needs.
Planning and implementing classroom guidance lessons (K-5).
Implementing the Smart Futures Career Development Curriculum.
Active participant in the school's Child Study Team meetings.
Create 504 service plans for eligible students and conduct meetings.
Facilitate National Red Ribbon Week Activities.
Promote anti-bullying awareness through a national campaign known as Blue Shirt Day.
Plan guest speaker presentations for drug & alcohol awareness and personal body safety programs.
Serve as the School Assessment Coordinator, and all that it entails, for the state assessment (P.S.S.A.)
Consult regularly with school administration, faculty, staff, and other specialists regarding pertinent issues related to school.
Active member of the Positive Behavior Intervention Support Team (P.B.I.S.)
Consult with outside agencies regarding students who require extra support at home & school.
Promote a positive school climate each day by modeling effort, accountability, gratitude, leadership, and encouragement. Otherwise known as our school's Eagle Way!
Hobbies / Interests:
An active equestrian. I enjoy riding and taking care of my Morgan horse named Jet.
Anything outdoor related such as hiking, gardening, walking my dog, going to the beach etc.
Listening to music.
Maintaining a back yard bird feeding station.
Actively involved in my church.
