Students are impacted by many social forces in their life to include their home, school, and community environments. To be most prepared to learn, students must have their basic, social, and emotional needs met first.
School Social Workers provide short- and long-term support, advocacy, and resource connection to help students achieve academic, social, and emotional success. They act as a liaison between students, the school system, their families, and the greater community.
These trained mental health professionals provide the following services to identified students and their families:

Intervention
Crisis response
Community/Agency collaboration and connection
Student and parent advocacy regarding:
The impacts of culture on education
Unaddressed mental health needs
Emotional/Behavioral consultation with staff and guardians
Assistance with basic need connection including housing, food, clothing, insurance, and other necessities
Certified trauma informed
Consultation with classroom teachers regarding trauma informed classroom
