Our Story

Ozzie's Grill- Santa Rosa

Ozzie’s Grill has been providing the burgers Santa Rosa residents crave for over 20 years. We always use fresh, locally-sourced premium ground beef. Our meat is never frozen. This isn’t your average burger – it requires both hands and plenty of napkins. Every sandwich or hamburger comes with your choice of salad or side. We also offer grilled hot dogs, fresh salads, beer-battered fish and chips, and so much more. Enjoy a handmade milkshake with real ice cream, just like you’d find in a malt shop. Be sure to save room for dessert, because we also offer the best banana split in Santa Rosa!

Ozzie’s is owned by Scott Diaz, a restaurant veteran and antique car buff with 18 years of experience. He brings out fresh and innovative flavors and style while maintaining Ozzie’s old-fashioned diner traditions found on our open roads and neighborhoods..

A Brief History…

Ozzie’s Grill originally opened its doors in 1992 under the eye of owners Ron and Trish Judge. The burger restaurant was named for Orlando Ozzimo, a businessman and restaurateur from Rochester, NY. “Ozzie” had a big influence on Ron’s life as he grew up, giving him his first job and mentoring him in the business. What better way to pay homage to the man who helped out a young man from a broken home than name his first restaurant after him?

In the early days, Ron worked hard to build a friendly environment, a core tenant which carries through today. Community has always been important at Ozzie’s, and the classic slogan “Let the Good Times Roll at Ozzie’s Grill” came out of the tradition of classic car owners bringing their best automobiles to support Ozzie’s. The events were so popular that they even earned their own nickname: Ozzie’s Classic Cruise-In.

This is the culture Ozzie’s Grill built from day one. Creating great burgers for Santa Rosa diners was top priority, but creating a wonderful community immediately followed. Since it was founded, the grill changed hands a few times. After going to family members, it was sold in 2005 to Jeff Gonsalves, who saw it through a rough six years and a national recession. The building fell into disrepair and had to close its doors in November 2011.

However, newest owner Scott Diaz didn’t want to see a Santa Rosa legend go down without a fight. He bought the place, and in only four short months, renovated and reopened in March 2012, just in time for Ozzie’s 20th anniversary. After undergoing extensive repairs and upgrades, Ozzie’s is back and the burgers are better than ever before!
