Task and Product
You will be assigned to a group that will cover one of the ancient civilizations that we study. Each group will redesign an area of Worlds of Fun based on assigned civilization (China, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Mesopotamia).
Before designing, groups will review and research the following information as they design their park:
Topic 1) The Society and Culture: Food? Religion? Arts? Achievements? What were the social issues of the time (poverty? health?) Significant Events and People? Leisure? What was the civilizations lasting impact(s)?
Topic 2) Politics and Law: What kinds of conflicts were there? Relationships within the civilization? With other civilizations? What was their government systems? Rights and Responsibilities? Laws? What was the civilizations lasting impact(s)?
Topic 3) Economy and Technology: What did they do for work? How did they trade? What did they trade? Who did they trade with and for what? Currency? What was the civilizations lasting impact(s)?
Topic 4) Environment: Boundaries? Maps? Landscape: Mountains, Deserts, Water? Division and usage of land? How did the resources and the land effect the way people lived? Climate? What was the civilizations lasting impact(s)?
Task
Each group will incorporate the following elements in their portion of the park:
Concessions (food)
Ride Design
Entertainment Design (games and shows)
Souvenirs (shopping)
Layout and Landscape- each group member will provide input as you design
**Disclaimer- all restrooms will be updated based on the civilization theme**
You will be in a group to research your content (civilization group). Then, you will be on a park committee to discuss a specific element of the theme park and interview/email an expert (attraction group).
Each group member will brainstorm, design, and collaborate on one area of the assigned theme of the park after research is complete.
Product
Once your two pieces of research are complete (civilization and attraction), you will create a model and a park description (a visual with descriptive background information about each area of your section) of your section of the theme park.
Your model will be entered into a contest that will be judged by a committee of teachers and staff.
