State Street is certainly a special place in Geneva! It is located on a fully remediated soil where folks can now adopt raised beds and garden worry-free! State St. is also home to Geneva Peeps, where folks can sign up to care for chickens. The property is owned and used by Children's Hours School, a montessori-style preschool and elementary school based on Lewis Street. Formerly, BluePrint volunteers grew crops requested by the community for the community to harvest as needed. BluePrint also developed a sensory garden and Little Free Library site for children, with areas inviting visitors to taste, smell, and touch various plants.
Ultimately, confusion over privately-maintained raised beds vs. public crops for people to harvest led BluePrint to shift all public garden efforts to Crystal Street. Children's Hours School now maintains the sensory garden and Little Free Library, while BluePrint still oversees and stocks the Little Free Farmstand here.
