International Academy

buildOn's goal is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations by building schools in underdeveloped countries. We empower people to learn and to pull themselves and their families out of poverty.

In 2010, IA buildOn funded the entire construction costs of a school in in Chaquitillo, Nicaragua. Thirteen students from IA lived with host families in the village and broke ground for the construction of this school.

In 2011, we helped fund a school in Mali. A group of three IA students traveled to Africa to begin the construction of this school.

In 2012, we traveled to Nicaragua to build a school.

In 2014 we fundraised $30,000 to build a school in Nepal. Twelve students form IA Central and West traveled to Kidi village to construct the school.

In 2015 we fundraised $30,000 to build a school in Haiti. 14 students plus two chaperones from IA Okma and West traveled to Sainte Helene village to construct an elementary school.

In 2016 we fundraised $30,000 to build a school in Malawi. 14 students plus two chaperones from IA Okma and West traveled to to construct an elementary school.

In 2017 we fundraised $30,000 to build a school in Nicaragua. 15 students plus two chaperones from IA Okma, IA East and IA West traveled to La California (Nicaragua) to construct an elementary school.
