As we continue to streamline our workflows and ensure compliance with board policy and legal requirements, creating digital PDF documents has become a standard practice – and for good reason! Think of PDFs as the official, unchangeable snapshots of your important work. They guarantee that everyone sees the same information, whether it's a permission slip, a student report, or curriculum materials.
Why the PDF Push? It's All About:
Seamless Sharing: Forget about formatting issues! PDFs look the same on any device, making sharing a breeze.
Accessibility: Properly created PDFs can be made accessible for all learners and stakeholders.
Security: Sensitive information can be password-protected within a PDF.
Compliance: Our district policies and various regulations mandate the use of secure, digital formats like PDF for record-keeping.
Sustainability: By embracing digital, we're also making a positive impact on our environment by reducing paper consumption.
Your Quick Guide to Creating PDFs (Using What You Already Know!):
Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides:
Simply go to File > Download and choose PDF document (.pdf). For Sheets, you'll have some layout options before downloading.
Canva:
Click Share > Download, and in the "File type" dropdown, choose PDF (Standard) for general use or PDF (Print) if you need it for professional printing.
Friendly Reminders:
Name your PDFs! This makes searching and organizing much easier (e.g., "FieldTrip_PermissionSlip_Grade5.pdf").
Take a quick peek at your PDF after creating it to ensure everything looks right.

As we plan for the 2025-26 school year, our main goal is to keep our amazing teachers and the tech they use for curriculum directly supporting our students. To make sure this happens, we've had to make some tough choices about our resources, and unfortunately, a few tools will no longer be available starting next school year. We know this might mean finding new ways to do some things, so we've put together some helpful resources within Google that can offer alternative solutions.
