Instrument Cleaning Checklist

Supplies You Will Need


ALL BAND AND ORCHESTRA MEMBERS:

Essential Elements Book 1 - supplied

A music stand (optional, but highly recommended).

Pencil with eraser.

FLUTE

Cleaning rod (included with rental instruments).

A small soft, absorbent cloth to attach to cleaning rod (4”x4”)

Bo-Pep thumb guide, finger saddle, finger rest (optional)

CLARINET AND SAXOPHONE

At least four reeds Rico, Rico Royal, Juno, or Vandoren. Reeds must be replaced throughout the school year. (Only 1 comes with most rentals)

5th Grade Beginners #2

5th Grade after Nov. #2 1/2 (two and a half)

6th Grade #3

A swab- for cleaning moisture out of the instrument

Cork grease (supplied with rentals)

A mouthpiece brush

Saxophones may consider a padded neck strap like Neotech (recommended)

TRUMPET

Valve Oil (mid level oil supplied with rentals I recommend buying Al-Cass Fast)

Tuning slide grease

A soft rag for cleaning and polishing

Mouthpiece brush (recommended)

A “snake” brush (recommended)

TROMBONE

Slide oil (mid level oil supplied with rentals I recommend Yamaha Trombone Slide Lubricant YAC1021P)

Tuning slide grease

A small (2 oz or less spray bottle)

A soft rag for cleaning and polishing

A mouthpiece brush (recommended)

VIOLIN/VIOLA

Rosin (supplied with rentals)

A soft rag for cleaning

A chin or shoulder rest (recommended)

First Fret or Don't Fret fingering markers. Make sure to order correct size (optional)

CELLO

Rosin (supplied with rentals)

A soft rag for cleaning

End pin anchor or stop (recommeded)
