Welcome to first grade!

Dear Friends and Families,

You are cordially invited to be a partner in your child’s education!

Welcome to an extraordinary school year! I am so excited to be your child’s first grade teacher. I know this school year will be filled with many accomplishments by your children. Academically, the students will deeply explore reading, writing, and mathematics. Socially, they will continue to develop relationships of respect and trust.

It is known that parents and guardians are the life teachers of their children. I look forward to meeting you and anticipate working with you to help your child have a rewarding educational experience this year! It is extremely important that you be a part of your child’s education.

Below you will find specific information that you may find helpful throughout the school year. Please keep it for future reference.

Stay tuned: Ask your child what he/ she is learning, and look in his/ her take-home folder every night. In the folders is where you will find any important notices, notes, and homework that needs to be completed.

Ask questions: If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to email me at any time! I welcome all concerns, ideas, questions, and feedback that affect your child or our classroom. Parent conferences are held in November. However, if you need to reach before that time, feel free to write me a note or email me.

Birthdays: Parents who would like to share a birthday treat with the class should email me in advance so that it may be scheduled into our busy day. Cupcakes, munchkins, and cookies work best! You may also send in water or juice. It is also helpful to provide paper goods, napkins, plates, etc. Please do not send in anything that requires cutting!
