6001 - C.E.R Six Sentence Framework: Aligning NGSS & PEs to phenomenon
Students struggle to articulate their understanding of scientific investigations and phenomena studied in class. This course is designed to equip educators with a practical framework for guiding students in constructing clear, evidence-based responses.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Develop and structure engaging phenomena and investigations that precisely align with grade-specific Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), including Performance Expectations (PEs) and Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs).
Implement a student-facing instructional framework that facilitates the organization of thoughts and ideas, empowering students to effectively communicate their scientific reasoning in response to investigations and phenomena
6002 - Elementary PE 3-6 Basketball skills and clinic drills
Different ideas for basketball lessons and drills. Practices to carry into the elementary basketball clinic.
6003 - Elementary PE track and field practice drills
This course explains different drills to practice for each of the 6 track and field events for the town-wide track and field event. Explaining the setup and the best way to utilize time.
6004 - Vocabulary Work to Support Test Prep
This session will help you plan for the vocabulary work that will support students in test prep and test-taking. You'll look at words and phrases used frequently on standardized assessments that often challenge students. You'll learn concrete strategies to teach and reinforce this vocabulary before test prep even starts, and then how you can embed brief, fun, meaningful word usage during test prep. You'll also look at questions addressing vocabulary standards on the state test and try out several strategies to help students address these questions.

6016 - Blooket Mastery: Gamifying Review, Assessment, and Data-Driven Instruction
Blooket is a versatile, game-based learning platform that transforms classroom review and assessment into a highly engaging, competitive experience. In this two-part, hands-on workshop, participants will move beyond basic Q&A by learning to effectively integrate Blooket into their daily instruction. We will cover account setup, efficient question set creation, strategic use of Blooket's diverse game modes (from high-stakes review to quick brain breaks), and—most critically—how to analyze the powerful performance data in the "Reports" feature to inform reteaching and differentiate instruction. Teachers will leave with a ready-to-use set, practical strategies for implementation, and the ability to track student mastery across any subject or content area.

6017 - Using School Messenger to Communicate with Students and Parents
Communication with students and parents is a critical part of everyday education, whether for specific groups or a general message to all students. Did you know that the Bloomfield Schools have powerful communication software called School Messenger to help you send messages? Did you know that it’s already included in PowerSchool, whether you’re in the teacher portal or the admin portal? This course will show you how to access the software in PowerSchool and send out messages to your students, whether in a specific class, a particular group, or the entire school. This course is geared to all users: teachers, administrators, secretaries, and anyone else who would like to be able to send messages to students and parents (and each other!).
6018 - How to Create a Safe and Inclusive Environment for LGBTQIA+ Students
The course will discuss ways to create a safe environment for LGBTQIA+ students in our classrooms, as well as statistics and relevant terms.
6019 - Nurtured Heart Approach - Overview
The Nurtured Heart Approach consists of a set of strategies that assist children in further developing their self-regulation and has been found effective with children of all ages. It focuses on transforming the way children perceive themselves, their caregivers, and the world around them. This course will provide an overview of the 3 stands of the program (absolutely yes, absolutely no, absolutely clear)
6020 - Nurtured Heart Approach - Advanced Understanding
The Nurtured Heart Approach consists of a set of strategies that assist children in further developing their self-regulation and has been found effective with children of all ages. It focuses on transforming the way children perceive themselves, their caregivers, and the world around them. In this course, we will expand on our knowledge of the 3 stands, explore the concept of nutritious words, and discuss practical strategies for implementation in the classroom setting. It is not necessary to take the first Nurtured Heart Approach course, but it is recommended.
6021 - Hand-Sewn Essentials: Hemming Techniques & Button Application
Learn the essential skills to hem pants or skirts and sew buttons or shanks with confidence. This hands-on course introduces fundamental hand-sewing techniques, including the plain hem, blind hem, and catch hem, perfect for beginners or anyone looking to build practical, everyday sewing skills.

Participants will learn about Bloomfield's partnership with Montclair State through the MSUNER.
We will review opportunities available through the MSUNER, including how to become Clinical Faculty, accessing individual and group grants, and hosting clinical interns (student teachers).
