Students have different levels of motivation, attitudes and responses towards academic instruction. The more thoroughly we meet their intellectual, social, physical, and emotional needs the better the chance students have in learning what is being taught.
We believe that students are capable of demonstrating their knowledge even in a time of more rigorous state math standards.
We strive to meet the learners needs by collaborating with classroom teachers to differentiate the process, product and content when needed.
We meet students at their level of understanding; concrete, pictorial or abstract.
Our program is driven by analyzed data which guides our instruction to specific areas students need to further develop their understanding.
Our goal is to dig deeply into math processes to develop a true understanding of concepts that can take them into the following grades as well as everyday life.
Students are identified for intervention using multiple criteria which may include; STAR Assessment, benchmark assessment, standardized assessment and classroom performance.
Intervention instruction will be provided in a one-to-one or small group environment with the interventionist.
Your child will still receive their regular classroom instruction. The work done in these small groups will be in addition to the classroom instruction and will help strengthen and improve identified needs.
Groups may meet in the classroom or in a pull out session.
Progress monitoring will be used to track student growth during the intervention process.
Instruction will be based on the identified needs of your learner in mathematics and include strategies based on the developmental stages of math learning. Students will receive intervention two to four times a week, based on need.
The interventionist will work with the teacher and parent to support learners throughout the intervention process.
Reach out to the interventionist if you have any questions or would like information to help support your child at home.
