EARLY DISMISSALS
Students who request to leave school before the close of the regular school day must do the following:
Present a note requesting early dismissal signed by a parent or guardian.
This note should include:
Student’s Name
Reason for dismissal
Time of dismissal
Parent/guardian signature & phone number
If anyone other than the parent/guardian is signing the student out, the name of the designated person must be included in the note. This individual must present identification to pick up the student.
The parent or guardian must enter the Main Lobby to sign the student out of school for the remainder of the day at the time specified in dismissal in the note. Parent or guardian MUST have I.D.
In case of an emergency, a parent or guardian must enter the Main Lobby and personally request the student’s early dismissal.
If a student plans to return to school on the same day, a parent or guardian must personally bring them back into the building. All students must return with appropriate documentation from any appointments.
Early dismissal related to illness during the school day can only be granted by the nurse. Students cannot be excused from school if they feel ill without securing release by the nurse.
Absences will be counted under the Attendance Policy. If possible, medical, dental and legal appointments should be made at times which do not conflict with the regular school day.
Students seeking early dismissal from school for driving permits should follow the procedures for leaving school early. Students requesting to leave school for the road test portion of the driver’s license are not allowed to leave with another student.
SENIOR EARLY DISMISSAL
A senior is allowed to sign themselves out early if:
Student has met the age of majority (18 years old).
Confirmed parental permission via phone call (confirmation is still required even if the student is 18 years of age).
Student has acceptable absences in the class(es) student will be missing. If the student is close to exceeding absences and losing credit, the student will not be allowed to sign himself/herself out.
Student has acceptable grades in the class(es) student will be missing. If the student is not passing class(es), the student will not be allowed to sign himself/herself out.
If the student is signing himself/herself out to go to an appointment, a note/appropriate documentation must be brought back to school verifying the student’s appointment, otherwise, in order to sign back in, a parent or guardian must be present to sign the student back in (regardless of age of the student).
