Olivia Foster

I have been a part of the journalism staff for three years and have loved every minute of it. My proudest accomplishment in Journalism was in 2019 when I won YSU Press Day with a feature article I had written about an alumna from Bloomfield High School. Some activities I enjoy outside of school are hanging out with my friends, playing volleyball and attending car meets with my dad. I am also passionate about business, analyzing, and marketing. I plan to study financial law at Ohio University after high school and pursue private equity. Private equity ties business, analysis and marketing all together in various ways and that’s why it is so appealing to me. Another thing that I love is working with people, I interact with all kinds of people at my job at End of the Commons. At EOC, I am versed in several different positions and am blessed to be given such a wonderful job opportunity. Something that I will miss is that throughout journalism, there have been many engaging conversations and discussions about anything and everything in which Ms. Sinkovich has often given me different perspectives and helped me understand various things. Journalism, along with my college writing courses, have helped my writing tremendously. It is a great opportunity to develop better writing skills and it even helps your ability to work with other people.

I have been in journalism for two years now. I originally joined the journalism staff to better my writing abilities and hope to inspire others to join the staff to learn more about journalism. I hope to write articles this year that not only inform readers but entertains them as well. I like to write about relevant topics and also topics that can relate to the readers. Currently, I am President of The National Honor Society, I am Vice- President of the senior class, and I am the captain of the volleyball team. I participate in many activities at my school such as science club, band, home ec club, varsity volleyball, and The National Honor Society. Some activities I enjoy outside of school are spending time with my family and friends, walking, swimming, playing with my dog, and riding my bike on the trails. My favorite tv shows to watch in my free time are Criminal Minds, Supernatural, and Grey’s Anatomy. I find the fall to be the best time of the year. I also find any type of mystery or scary movies interesting.

Adelia Gable

I have been in journalism since I was a sophomore, although I took a break as a junior because I attended TCTC for a year. At TCTC I studied multimedia, doing things such as videography, photography, photo editing, podcasts and livestreams. I was news anchor for a livestream of our career day. I also competed in a state competition for videography based on a nonprofit organization (Santa's Hideaway Hollow). My group and I made a video, presentation and verbal presentation. We placed 2nd in state, but due to COVID-19 we were unable to travel to nationals and compete for that title. Some other activities I enjoy are hanging out with friends, working and riding horses once in a while. I am a senior staff writer for the Cardinal Chronicle. I mainly focus on interviewing people and also writing quick informational stories on current events.

Mya Mitchell

I decided to join journalism to expand my knowledge in writing, and get involved with something outside of my comfort zone, helping to prepare me for more in-depth writing. I enjoy working with animals, especially when it comes to any farm animal. I love anything artistic and creative, using paint and drawing mediums the majority of the time to express my thought process and how I see the world. Music is also something I enjoy, whether it be going to concerts or singing along with my friends for pure fun. The current pandemic has actually led me to uncovering my interest in psychology and the human mind, so I’m planning on attending college to start my path of becoming a psychiatrist, where I plan to try and help the spread of mental health awareness and the education of different mental illnesses.

This is my first year joining journalism, I joined because I wanted to develop my writing skills. Some activities/ hobbies I enjoy doing outside of school are softball and bowling. I like going on adventures with my friends, and I like going on vacations with my family.

Jenna Clevenger

My inspiration for becoming part of the staff was my interest in writing and wanting to improve my writing skills for the future. I hope that in my writing that I can write stories and articles that can inform students about real life situations and events. I also want to be able to write about political topics unbiasedly. My hope is that I will be able to spread information that is true and will mean something to people and will make a genuine difference. I have been involved in many school sports and clubs such as volleyball, cheerleading, yearbook, and drama club. I have also been attending the YSU English festival for 3 years. One year I had the privilege of interviewing the author of the Scythe and many more great books, Neal Shusterman. I am excited about my sophomore year and I'm even more excited to see what I will do in the future with journalism. I hope to keep up the good grades and hard work.

Miranda Fultz

Hi, I'm Miranda, I'm 16 and I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, I have 7 fish and 1 dog and 1 cat. I'm very passionate about skating and art and even writing from time to time, I like to stick by myself and just do my own thing. Having a rough past and little human interaction this got me into doing art and writing as which are good ways to express yourself in a subtle way, doing art makes me feel like I'm in control of my life and myself and writing gets all my feelings and thoughts out. Acknowledging it makes everything much better. So in a way I decided to do Journalism to get me writing and thinking. Other than that I like to stand out because I like dark colors like red and black and I just feel like I'm myself and I just find them calming and very vibrant to the soul. Honestly I love to vibe and dance, especially in stores because I don't know anyone there most of the time and can have fun. A little background story on my cat. We found her outside my grandparents house 1 year ago and there were like 7 kittens but she was the only orange and we snuck up behind them and they all ran but her… Chance got her name because we weren't originally gonna keep her because we already had 6 cats but she was just too sweet so we kept her and ever since she's been my baby and just follows me around.
