Dear Friends,
As the year comes to an end, we look back with deep gratitude for all the challenges we faced together and the growth we have achieved as a community. Thank you for being with us every step of the way.
Twenty-five years ago, when our late Master first arrived in Northern California, he gave us $5,000 as seed funding to start our organizational work. At that time, we had nothing—this was the very beginning of our Tse-Xin (Compassionate Heart) efforts. Today, the scale of what we’ve built is far beyond anything we could have imagined back then. This growth has only been possible because of the generosity and dedication of so many—those who contributed financially, those who offered their time and skills, and the compassionate guidance of our Dharma Teacher. Together, you have helped our Northern California organization grow steadily and sustainably.
This year, in addition to continuing our educational and charitable programs, we focused on two major development projects: the Cupertino Branch and Peacock Villa.
Cupertino Branch: Our health food shop and beverage bar continue to operate smoothly, and classroom usage has been steadily increasing. We hope the outdoor areas will officially open next year.
Peacock Villa: This year we expanded our care for more animals—including sheep, pigs, dogs, chickens, and peacocks. Our building plans are currently under review, and we hope to begin construction within the next couple of years.
We also launched a unique initiative this year—the “Turkey Rescue Project.”
Every Thanksgiving, more than 40 million turkeys are slaughtered. Out of compassion and a wish to reduce harm, our Dharma Teacher encouraged us not only to purchase turkeys for release but also to prepare vegetarian turkey meals for low-income families and individuals. Through this effort, we hope to reduce the number of turkeys consumed during the holiday season. This year, BWNC prepared over 3,500 vegetarian turkey dinners for people in need.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support and participation. As we look ahead to the new year, we invite you to join us in moving forward with kindness, commitment, and a shared vision for the future.
