農曆七月，在民間習俗中被稱為鬼月，但是在佛教中，卻是非常吉祥的「孝親月」。

Every year on the seventh month of the lunar calendar, it is known as “Ghost Month”. In the Buddhist world, it is known as “Filial Piety Month”.

佛世時，目犍連尊者依照佛陀的指示，於農曆七月十五僧自恣日時，以豐盛美味的佳餚齋供比丘、比丘尼，憑此十方眾僧的功德，令尊者母親得以由餓鬼道中解脫。

At Buddha time, Maudgalyayana followed the instruction from The Buddha, prepared an offering of all the best of the foods in the world, to the greatly virtuous assembled Sangha of the ten directions for obtaining the liberation of Maudgalyayana’s mother who was a hungry ghost.

佛陀又說：「凡是佛弟子應當孝順，念念中常憶現世父母，乃至七世父母，於每年的七月十五日，為作盂蘭盆法會，供佛及僧，以報答父母長養慈愛之恩。」

The Ullambana Sutra, quoted, "On July 15th of the year, use Ullambana to remember the parents with filial piety and kindness. Offer Ullambana to Buddha and Monks, in order to repay their parents for their kindness. All Buddhist disciples should uphold it."

八月份的盂蘭盆法會，我們將跟著僧團法師一起作廣大供養及誦持《盂蘭盆經》，希望藉由認真的誦經、供養和迴向，來報答父母與眾生恩，同時也可以在菩提路上與無量眾生結下善緣。

At the Ullambana Sutra Recitation Ceremony in August, we will make extensive offerings and recite the Ullambana Sutra together with Sangha. May we repay our parents and all sentient beings through sincere sutra chanting, offering and devotion and form good karma with all sentient beings on the path of Buddha.
