Open Houses This Past Week
It was wonderful to welcome so many of our Bluebird families into the nest this week for our Open Houses! On Tuesday, September 8th, our Kindergarten and 1st grade families had the opportunity to meet their children’s teachers, followed by our 2nd and 4th grade families on Wednesday, September 9th.
We loved seeing so many families in our school and sharing the excitement of a new school year together!
We have one more Open House next week on Monday, September 14th for our 3rd and 5th grade families. Please see the information below! We look forward to seeing you!

September 11th Remembrance Day
Today, our Bluebirds paused to recognize September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance Day with a moment of silence. New York State requires public schools to observe a brief period of silent reflection on September 11, providing an opportunity for students to learn about this important moment in our nation’s history and to honor those who lost their lives.
While the children in our school were not yet born when September 11, 2001 occurred, we recognize that this day may bring questions, feelings, and conversations for our students and families. As a staff, we want to be prepared to thoughtfully support our children should these conversations arise in our classrooms.
We recognize that September 11 can be a difficult day for many people, including children, families, and members of our school community. We are mindful of one another and are committed to offering care and support to those who may be carrying difficult memories today.
During our morning announcements, we reminded our students that even during difficult times, people can make a difference by caring for one another, helping someone who needs it, and showing kindness. We then took a moment of silence to remember those who are not with us today and to reflect on the importance of helping, caring, and looking out for one another.

Mrs. Fisher's Kindergarten class listened to the beautiful story, This Very Tree by Sean Rubin about September 11th. Then they painted their hands red and blue and put their beautiful prints on a picture of the towers. When they rubbed their left red hand and right blue hand, it turned purple!! It was so fun. The smiles were priceless!

Transportation Information
If your child is eligible for our bus service, you will receive information in August on the Parent Portal of your child's bus number and bus time pick-up and drop-off. If you have any questions about bus transportation, bus stops, or pick-up/drop-off times, please reach out to Mr. Juan Zhindon (Head of Transportation) via email: jzhindon@blindbrook.org
NBS (Non-Bus Eligible) Information: If you're found NOT to be eligible for the District's bus transportation you are considered a non-bus student (NBS) will will receive an NBS tag to display on your vehicle's rearview mirror. Please contact Mr. Juan Zhindon (Head of Transportation) via email: jzhindon@blindbrook.org if you have any information about being non-bus eligible.
NBS tags have been sent by mail and NBS families should have received NBS tags in the mail. Please contact the Main Office - ridgestreetmainoffice@blindbrook.org - if you do not receive your NBS tags!

Please make sure that you have read our Traffic Safety Letter which was sent via email a few weeks ago. This email correspondence also includes the Arrival and Dismissal maps.
Please be mindful of the following changes, especially the NEW changes:
NEW FOR THE 2026-2027 School Year:
During dismissal, traffic can become congested in both directions on Ridge Street. Our goal is to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible while ensuring the safety of our students, families, staff, pedestrians, and drivers, as well as maintaining a clear path for emergency vehicles to pass by and/or access our campus. To help improve traffic flow and safety, the following procedures will be in effect during dismissal from 2:00–3:30 p.m.:
Right turns only when entering campus from Ridge Street between 2:00–3:30 p.m.
No left turns from Ridge Street onto campus or into any campus parking lot between 2:00–3:30 p.m.
No left turns from campus onto Ridge Street between 2:00–3:30 p.m.; vehicles must turn right when exiting campus.

All you have to do is:
Print out the Summer Reading Bingo Board and get busy reading!
You have a choice - One Bingo Board is already colored in, but there is another board if your child would like to color it in!
Each student must write his/her FULL name on the Summer Reading Bingo Board!
Complete the Summer Reading Bingo Board by completing 5 boxes vertically, horizontally, diagonally - or challenge yourself to complete the whole board.
Return the Summer Reading Bingo Board by Monday, September 14th for a Summer Reading Prize!

Blind Brook Varsity Boys Soccer Car Wash – Saturday, September 19 (12-4pm) at BBHS parking lot
The Blind Brook Varsity Boys Soccer Team is partnering with the Friends of Blind Brook Fund (FBBF) for their annual Car Wash! Come out on Saturday, September 19 to support the team and get your car washed for a great cause.
All proceeds go to Friends of Blind Brook Fund (FBBF) to support extracurricular programs and opportunities benefiting Blind Brook students. We hope to see you there!

In our effort to maintain a safe and secure environment, all school visitors must enter through the school’s main entrance, provide a valid photo ID, sign in at the security desk, and wear a VISITOR sticker while they are in the building. If you have a meeting with a teacher, staff member, or administrator, please enter through the Main Entrance as the security monitor will have a list of scheduled meetings.
Visitors will not be allowed in the building unless there is a scheduled meeting.
