I am passionate about teaching subjects in the area Solid Mechanics, Structural analysis (statics and dynamics), Computational mechanics, Vibration analysis,Machine Design, Mechanical Vibrations, Laboratories related to mechanics and structures.
I have taught the following subjects in recent years:
Mechanical Vibrations: (PG level)
Equation of Motion by Newton's Method and energy method, undamped and damped free vibration, undamped and damped forced vibration, rotating unbalance, vibration isolation and transmissibility, system attached to moving support, – response due to unit impulse, Response due to a General Excitation, Excitations Whose Forms Change at Discrete Times, transducers, vibration measuring instruments – vibrometers and accelerometers, frequency measuring instruments, vibration exciters, continuous system – a simple exposition, separation of time and space variables, problems governed by wave equation: longitudinal vibrations of rods & torsional vibration of shaft, lateral vibration of beams.
2. Mechanics of Materials: (UG level)
Stress, Strain and Hooke’s law, Stress strain diagram for brittle and ductile materials, True stress and strain, Shear stress and strain, Lateral strain and Poisson’s ratio, Elastic constants, Stresses on inclined planes, Principal stresses and maximum shear stress, Principal angles, Shear stresses on principal planes, Maximum shear stress, Mohr circle for plane stress conditions, Shear Force and Bending Moment, Deflection of Beams, Thin cylinder: Hoop’s stress, maximum shear stress, circumferential and longitudinal strains, Thick cylinders: Lames equations, Columns: Buckling and stability, Critical load.
3. Numerical simulation laboratory: (PG level)
Introduction to MATLAB, Mathematical Operations,Script Files, 2D and 3D Plots, Functions and Programming. Applications, 2D and 3D Plots, Functions and Programming. Applications, Solve theFirst Order Differential Equation, Python Basics, Flow Control, Functions, Lists, Dictionaries, String Manipulation, Pattern Matching, Reading & Writing Files, Organising files and Debugging.
