Blair Sixpence:

Home Visiting and

Family Engagement Program

At Blair Community School District, we know how foundational the first three years of a child’s life is for their future school success. Focused on developing strong social-emotional connections and building early language skills, the Blair Sixpence program meets families in their child’s first classroom - their home.

Committed to the belief that parents are the first and most important teachers in a child’s life, the Sixpence Advocate brings personalized education and support designed to meet each family’s specific needs.

Parents gain the knowledge, skills and support to guide their child’s growth through their early years and beyond. Early childhood learning experiences build skills in children for school readiness. Parents and children receive opportunities for community support and connection through regular group meetings and social activities.

Participation in the Blair Sixpence program is FREE and voluntary. The program is open to all families in the Blair Community School District who are expecting, have young infants or toddlers and fall under at least one of the following categories:

  • Income qualified for federal free or reduced lunch

  • English is the second language spoken in the home

  • Infants were born prematurely or at low birth weight

  • Parents are younger than 20 or have not completed high school
