what is A MUSIC PRODUCER?
A music producer, or record producer, assists an artist with their recording project, bringing their vision to fruition and guiding their sound along the way. Their daily responsibilities include overseeing the recording process and working with the artist to create high-quality music. They may have to do more administrative work like schedule recording booths, manage the budget, and find additional talent to support the recording artist.
types of MUSIC PRODUCER
The two main types of music production are:
Studio production - working in a studio you may create music for albums, films, adverts and other creative endeavours.
Live events production - this type of production involves concerts, festivals or live shows. For these, you'll coordinate technical staff, performers and other stakeholders to ensure events run smoothly. Live events can be one-offs or regular annual events and take place in indoor and outdoor music venues of all sizes.
HOW TO BECOME A MUSIC PRODUCER
While you don't need a degree to be a music producer, a number of producers will have a degree or some technical training alongside running their own production projects. The following subjects at degree or HND level are most likely to provide you with relevant skills or knowledge:
