Looking to explore the career and education options open to you?
The New Directions programme is a 13-week course delivered by Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) in partnership with The Platform. The programme offers 16-24-year-olds in Blackpool the opportunity to explore career and education options, with a guaranteed place on a B&FC college course once they have found their chosen career path.
Sessions will run every Wednesday and be delivered by a specialist B&FC Careers Adviser at The Platform, as well as master classes with expert tutors at the college campuses.
If before the end of the 13 weeks a young person has found their chosen career path, they can step off the programme and join directly onto their ideal college course. Anyone who completes the 13 weeks will also progress onto a college course of their choice.

The Kickstart Scheme is a Government scheme being introduced in Great Britain to fund the direct creation of high quality jobs for young people who are on Universal Credit and deemed to be at the highest risk of long-term unemployment. It will give young people the chance to build their confidence and skills in the workplace and to gain experience that will improve their chances of going on to find long-term, sustainable work. This will sit alongside a guaranteed foundation of support through an expanded Youth Offer delivered through the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP), providing a range of targeted support to help young people find lasting work.
