About the course
In First Jobs in Film and TV, you’ll meet industry professionals who are just starting out and learn different ways that young people can take their first steps into the screen industries.
We will discuss the skills and qualities that got them the job and what a typical working day looks like, getting an inside perspective on the range of pathways available to enter the world of film and TV production.
By learning about current industry working conditions, including what it’s like to freelance and how roles differ across the sector, you’ll be able to support young people to make career choices that work best for them.
There's only one month to go until submissions close to the Into Film Awards. Entries close at midday on the 4 March – don’t forget to submit your student’s short films or nominate them for a non-filmmaking award.

Join us for this Insight Day to learn about a broad range of job roles within the music industry such as performance, management, and marketing.
Throughout the day you'll be engaging with different sector experts, hearing direct from the professionals and having the opportunity to ask the questions that are important to you. On top of that, you'll also work on short micro-projects with other students just like yourself to really showcase your collaboration and creative skills.
The UK music industry is a powerhouse of creativity and innovation, offering a vast array of career opportunities far beyond the spotlight. While artists and performers capture the stage, the industry thrives on the expertise of countless behind-the-scenes roles, including sound engineers, producers, talent managers, promoters, marketers, and music lawyers. With the rapid rise of digital platforms, exciting new careers like playlist curators, virtual event producers, and AI music developers are emerging, blending technology with artistry. For young people with diverse interests—whether in technology, business, or creativity—the music industry is bursting with potential, offering dynamic, future-proof paths where passion meets opportunity.
The day will be a great mix of information, project tasks, and talks from industry pros - really not to be missed if you're considering a career in the music industry.

Why bother with the creative arts? What role does creativity have in the workplace. Join Severn Arts to find out about how creative thinking and skills can contribute to all aspects of working life, regardless of whether or not you choose a career in arts and culture. This workshop looks at how getting engaged with arts and culture and creative activity builds confidence, flexible thinking, the ability to problem-solve, as well as supporting mental health and well-being. We will cover the career options available in all areas of the creative industries and offer a deep dive into the opportunities and careers in the creative sector and the options are available to your young people. the Severn Arts team has a wealth of experience and will be sharing their own routes and travels through the creative sector highlighting the many different ways of getting into the creative sector.
Severn Arts is a thriving charitable arts company formed in June 2018, bringing high quality music and arts to a wide range of people across Worcestershire. We lead Worcestershire’s Music Education Hub, funded by Arts Council England, teaching music in all types of education settings, on our travelling Music Box and in our music groups, bands and orchestras which meet outside of school. We are offer a wide range of opportunities, internships, placements and training for artists and young people. We support the creative sector to grow, increase engagement and develop audiences through our festivals, art projects and activities across the county.
