You’re the first point of contact for your team, responding professionally to criminal justice partners and victims and witnesses to maintain public confidence in our work. You support prosecutors by serving documents and preparing case files for hearings in the magistrates’ and Crown Court. Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills are essential – including knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.

Excellerators Overview
Apply for Slaughter and May’s 2024 Excellerators Programme for an insight into the many different professions at an international law firm, ranging from lawyers to business services, including legal technology, global client development and responsible business. The virtual programme is a chance for students across the UK to gain an insight into working life at Slaughter and May, as well as essential employability skills through interactive workshops, hands-on tasks and networking sessions.
In addition, through our partnership with non-profit Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP), eligible Excellerators students will be prioritised for a place on SMBP’s in-person Work Insight & Skills week across the UK that takes place in July.
Excellerators is offered at no cost.
What will you gain?
Interactive sessions with a range of legal and business services staff
Skills-based workshops including ‘essential presentation skills’ and ‘how to network effectively’
Project work in small groups that will help develop your commercial awareness, teamwork and presentation skills

Candidates must:
be in Year 12 (England and Wales).
Currently attend and have always attended a state-funded, non-fee-paying school/college.
Meet one or more of the PRIME Criteria.
Excellerators is recommended for students that have achieved grades 6-9 at GCSE.

Inspiring Minds: Social Sciences and Humanities
Inspiring Minds is Loughborough University’s series of taster days for Year 12 students. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn more about the options available at university and how to get there. The events allow you to not only experience studying your chosen subject area at university level, but also to meet our current students and academics to discover university life!
At Inspiring Minds: Social Sciences and Humanities, attendees can customise their experience and choose up to four different sessions to create a personalised timetable. In Addition to the subject taster sessions, advice and guidance on university applications and student finance will be available from our award-winning School and College Liaison team. Furthermore, a talk from our award-winning Careers Network will also be available informing attendees about career pathways in the sector.
Individual students, as well as school and college groups, are welcome to attend.

Immerse yourself in the world of an international law firm and discover what life is like as a junior lawyer at Bird & Bird.
In partnership with Forage, the Virtual Experience Programme is an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the world of an international law firm and discover what life is like as a junior lawyer.
Experience life at the firm in your own time and in your own space with our Virtual Experience Programme. You will gain real work experience and learn directly from us, which you can use on your resume, during interviews, and in your future work as a lawyer. You will also earn a certificate to share with prospective employers and your professional network.
You will complete three modules that will:
• encourage you to apply law theory to work situations at Bird & Bird;
• develop your commercial awareness, skills and knowledge; and
• practice reviewing, drafting and analysing legal documents for clients.
The programme takes 6-8 hours to complete, and you will need a tablet, PC or laptop to access the programme online.
If you want to research more into the firm or practice completing some work, the programme is a great place to start. You can complete the free, self-paced programme online.

During this free two week virtual work experience programme you will meet a range of industry professionals from various legal areas of law who will give you an overview of their experiences and you'll get the opportunity to ask a whole load of questions.

Our Unlocked Programme is the perfect answer. This innovative programme is aimed at students who have academic potential and an interest in law, but who may believe that a legal career is out of their reach. We're here to prove that it isn't.
If you attend a state school/sixth form or college and you are in your first year of A-Levels, with mainly GCSE 9 - 6/A* - B grades (or Scottish equivalent), little or no family history of higher education and a genuine interest in law - and lots of enthusiasm then you are eligible to enrol on to our programme!
You see, we're passionate about opening up legal careers to the best and brightest young minds - especially students, like you, who may not share the typical background of most legal professionals.
Our 2024 programme will be run virtually over three days, you will engage in a range of different activities to help you think about the actions you need to take to get to where you want to be in your career, both in the short term and the long term.
In short, Eversheds Sutherland Unlocked will actively engage you, inform you and inspire you to start your journey into law, whichever route you decide to take.
