Role Overview

BCA are looking for an apprentice to join their team based at BCA Automotive’s Mossend Depot, this is a varied role to provide full administrative support to the Depot, including transport compliance, digital support and ensuring our customers’ paperwork is processed to enable invoicing of vehicle movements. The apprentice will be working towards their Digital Applications SCQF Level 6 Diploma.
What’s Involved?
Becoming an expert within the Vision System which is a windows focused programme to manage bookings and customer information
Working collaboratively with drivers and office staff to provide tachograph compliance including driver card/vehicle downloads
Utilising the IBM called ACS to push transport from auction to automotive
Assisting the maintenance of driver holiday and absence records, liaising with payroll driver timesheet submission, absence and queries
Use Excel spreadsheets to manage stock, keep track of audits and record updates
Assisting with controlling and issuing of PPE, truck equipment, drivers hand-held devices, consumables and office supplies including raising associated purchase orders and invoice checking/reconciliation for the region.

Leyland has sole responsibility for the engineering design and development of the DAF XB product within the PACCAR organisation. As an apprentice you will gain a significant amount of knowledge through undertaking a structured rotation around various mechanical and electrical design functions whilst studying towards a degree qualification. You will gain CAD skills and an insight into design areas including chassis, powertrain, cabs and electrical systems.
You will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the role of a design engineer upon completion of this scheme.

Through this combination of academic study and real work experience, you will become a software engineer capable of writing requirements, designs, software code and tests. The work placement element of the course involves a wide range of activities for example: developing and testing aircraft displays, producing ground based equipment or the latest training simulators.
Please note you must not book any annual leave within the first 3 months of your apprenticeship. Following this, leave will be considered depending on the individual training delivery schedule and must be approved by your line manager.
