Inspiring Minds is Loughborough University’s series of taster days for Year 12 students. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn more about the options available at university and how to get there. The events allow you to not only experience studying your chosen subject area at university level, but also to meet our current students and academics and discover university life!

At Inspiring Minds: Business and Economics, attendees can choose to attend multiple sessions across our Business and Economics subjects, explore our campus facilities and meet current students and successful recent graduates. 

Sessions will also be available providing information, advice and guidance on university applications and student finance from our award-winning School and College Liaison team.

Individual students, as well as school and college groups, are welcome to attend.

Making the Future, Part 3: Careers in Crafts and Making with QEST

For our third session as part of our careers in crafts and making series this academic year, students will continue to explore a diverse world of roles in the sector.

From illustrators, jewellers and footwear designers to armour conservators, cheesemongers and Haute Couture fashion designers, the sector offers exciting job prospects. Professionals could work in specialist boutiques, become an entrepreneur, or work for big brands such as Nike, Cartier, and Louis Vuitton to name a few!

Students will learn about routes into these creative careers, gain tips and advice for getting started (even now), and will have a live ‘show and tell’ where the professionals will showcase some of their creations.

You've probably seen a Boots on your local high street – the first store was opened in 1849! Perhaps you've been in-store or online and made a purchase, but what do you really know about this renowned retailer?

Come and join this unique opportunity to learn more about careers within the market leader in the world of healthcare, beauty and retail. Hear from members of the Boots team about the wealth of opportunities available in Healthcare, Retail, Supply Chain and STEM to name but a few. All whilst getting to interact in activities, independently and in groups with other young people from across the country who are interested in similar careers you are considering.

This eight-session virtual experience gives you a chance to connect to the Boots business and build your skills and knowledge about a range of departments.  The programme is split into three two-part sessions, each of which also include an introductory session to Boots and its history, and concludes with a ‘Next steps’ session, helping you prepare for your future and hopefully, a career with Boots in mind!

All sessions take place on Wednesdays from 3.30pm - 5pm.

Previously 92% of those attending virtual work experience with Boots would now consider starting a career in the organisation and 93% felt the experience had useful to add to their CV, so this is an opportunity not to be missed.  Whilst completing your application, please rank your preference of the sessions you’d like to join, or if you plan to join all of them.

We encourage you to attend as many of these sessions as you would like to, but ask that you attend both the introductory (Session 1) and next steps sessions (Session 8) in addition to any of the other sessions you choose to join – You will be sent a workbook with pre and post activities to complete for each of the double sessions you attend which must be completed and submitted before the end of the work experience.
