The team is involved with a variety of different construction project including improvements to existing Water and Wastewater works, laying new pipe through fields and towns, building shafts and tunnels to store rainwater and installing new security measures. This type of work can be disruptive to our customers and stakeholder so during the apprenticeship you will learn how to be the expert on all things customer within the project team. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineer and many others in the project delivery team to ensure customers are communicated to and the impact of our work is kept to a minimum.

A bit more about the role

During this 24 month apprenticeship you'll learn Construction Project Management techniques for the management of programme, cost and assurance activities with regard to contractor performance. You will learn to utilise the various risk management and stakeholder techniques to understand project progress and deploy the tools needed to support this.  You will learn and gain experience managing external stakeholders such as local, parish and county council representatives and all about highway legislation

Successful apprentices will achieve Associate Project Manager, Level: 4 as part of the formal element of you training and a variety of in house and on the job training.

During your apprenticeship you'll learn:

• • Construction techniques employed in building new assets, and why some are favoured over others.

  • About different types of contract, where they are employed and how to administer them commercially.

  • People skills, for managing conflict, negotiation and health and safety behaviours.

  • About the water and wastewater network and process, and the requirement to build new assets.

  • About health, safety, welfare and environmental management, the law, the requirements and how to review if these are being met.

  • How to review things against a standards or guidelines to ensure that the quality required is met.

  • How important customer and stakeholder management are to successful construction management.

As our new Software Engineering Apprentice, you’ll have a major impact on helping us achieve our goal. What is this role?

In this role you will support the creation of initial high level project plans, flagging issues and risks, and supporting delivery to cost, quality and defined timescales. You will work closely with the project managers and sponsor to define project strategy and deliverables.

As you develop in the role you will lead on clearly defined internal and innovation projects. You will work towards gaining a level 4 project management qualification. 

The duration of this Apprenticeship is approximately 24 months and if successful, you will join our 2024 Apprenticeship Intake in September.

Working with a DHL team within a small warehouse in a prison setting working on the Retail contract directly for HMPPS/Ministry of Justice (MOJ). Working alongside offenders, enabling them to pick, pack, and distribute orders. Apprentices will play an integral and empowering role in offender's lives, where you will work with a diverse team to support their rehabilitation in a warehouse environment.

• Completing one-to-ones with the offenders

• Guiding them through safe systems of work and processes within the warehouse environment

• Resource planning - ensuring all roles within the warehouse domain are covered in order to process all of the daily orders.

• Ensuing stocking levels are correct to meet daily demand from suppliers

• Continuous Improvement - working leaner and smarter

• Ensuring compliance of process for MOJ regulations

The training you will be getting

As part of the Level 6 Supply Chain Degree  Apprenticeship, they will complete the learning on campus at Aston University and on-site learning at their dedicated DHL Supply Chain site.

What you will be doing?

This is a five year scheme. Through five annual work placements you will learn and demonstrate skills required to successfully manage our complex projects and programmes including; communication, schedule management, budgeting and cost control, stakeholder management, risk management and project governance. Over 50% of those undertaking the Honours degree in Project Management, graduate with a first class Honours degree.

BITESIZE BRIEF: This role will require you to collate, distribute and analyse sales and performance reports, identifying trends, trading patterns and highlighting anomalies. You will communicate and escalate findings appropriately. You will also work collaboratively to contribute to the delivery of department/company sales and profit targets.

Each week Apprentices will be allocated time away from their day to day roles to work on their Apprenticeship studies. You will spend approximately 80% of your working week learning from skilled members of the team whilst supporting learning on the job.
