WORK PLACEMENT, ONLINE AND EMPLOYABILITY VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Note to students:

It is really important that your timetable isn't regularly affected by any work experience.

If you would like to attend any sessions that do conflict with lessons and are a maximum of one day, a permission slip can be obtained through sian.roberts@blackpoolsixth.ac.uk which needs to be agreed upon firstly by your teachers and then head of department to be released from lesson.

Any longer term or block placements (placements that would require more than a day) should be arranged in holidays and/or weekends so as to reduce the disruption this causes to learning.

Opportunities for December 2024

Our national outreach programme, Leeds Futures – Politics, is designed to inspire Year 12 students who are interested in studying Politics, International Development and International Relations at university and support them to gain a place at the University of Leeds.

Running from March in Year 12 to December in Year 13, the programme comprises a series of online sessions, as well as two in-person visits to the University of Leeds campus. Students will develop their subject knowledge through a series of academic taster workshops exploring the ‘politics of global challenges’. The programme also includes activities that support your skills development, insight into life as an undergraduate student and support your university applications.

After taking part in the programme, eligible students will receive a guaranteed contextual offer from the University of Leeds if they apply for the BA Politics, BA International Development or BA International Relations courses in the School of POLIS.

Introduction to the National Cyber Force

And what’s more incredible is that you as a school lever can join them straight from school on one of their student programmes.

On Tuesday 21st November, between 5pm - 6pm, we will be hosting an Insight Evening with AWE virtually. This will allow you to learn a lot more about the organisation as well as the defence industry, and you will have the opportunity to take part in a hands-on top-secret workshop. AWE will also be launching some brand new apprenticeships, so if you have an interest in working for the government and would like a future career in this sector then this will be ideal for you.

Office Manager \ Admin Assistants

Our Admin team assist station Management with the Admin side of the station. From creating posters, to answering emails, our Admin Volunteers are important, helping to keep the office running. This is a perfect role for anyone who is good at Desktop Publishing, or loves to bury their head in paperwork!

We also need a Office Manager, who will oversee the running of the office and make sure that the office runs smoothly. This includes:

Making sure the Photocopier is filled
Ordering Stationary
Making sure the office is kept tidy
Answering calls
Greeting Visitors and bringing them to the office
Filing
Supervising Admin Volunteers

Our Admin Volunteers will assist the Office Manager, with the various other admin tasks
