Hi....and thanks for checking out our workshop - "How to Write a Great First CV"
You know, I can't recall the last time I saw a CV from a young person that really hit the spot...one that clearly captured the key points, and was super-effective at communicating them to an employer.
And I know that this means some young people are not securing interviews for jobs that they really want....and we can help make sure this doesn't happen to you!
A CV's job is to get you into the interview room....where you can then wow the employer with your personality, your experiences, your skills and your all-round awesomeness.
But a poorly written CV means that you might not even get into the interview room, and so they never get to see what they're missing!
I've been helping young people find their first job for over 30 years. Whether that's straight after GCSEs, A Levels or after graduating from university. I know what works and what doesn't.....and have a bunch of easy fixes you can apply to your CV.
We will cover:
How to write a great Summary Statement
What order to put your CV in (and why that can sometimes change)
How to lay out your qualifications
Why your part time jobs are really important...and how to present them
Interests? Is anyone interested in your interests? Of course they are!
What should I do about references?
What design templates to use......and which ones to avoid
The session is supported by East Sussex Careers Hub.....but you can join from anywhere - you don't need to live in this area.

I am just letting you know that we are still here to help your Y13 students find, apply for, and secure apprenticeships.
This term we are prioritising Y13 students due to the attraction of degree apprenticeships and the live vacancies already advertised (closing dates in November).
All registered students will be invited to a series of "live" online information sessions that will commence in the next few weeks and run through until the end of term. The calendar of sessions will be shared with you once finalised.
In addition to these sessions, we are supporting students on a one-to-one basis. Providing tailored advice relating to their chosen career and a review and feedback service on their CV and statement. Where students are looking at specific sectors and locations we will use our networks and other resources to encourage employers to recruit. Offering an introduction service for students and employers where possible.
We are also developing a train-the-trainer session. This will allow staff to deliver these sessions themselves. Again, we will share the date for this session with you as soon as it is available.
Any events or sessions you want to deliver at Blackpool 6th, we will still consider but will prioritise based on the number of students registered for Get an Apprenticeship Adviser.
In addition to the above, we include some links and attachments from other providers and organisations offering support or projects aimed at Y13 students. These are not necessarily affiliated to the Early Connect pilot or Lancashire Skills & Employment Hub.
Some interesting titles include:
The frontline of healthcare
A journey through AI
Religion and conflict: A war of two ideas
The future of fashion
Smart tech and business
And many more

We're excited to share some wonderful news about the MHA Leading with Ambition work experience programme, which we believe could be a fantastic opportunity for your Year 12 students. We were wondering if you could kindly pass along the following message to the students.
Exciting announcement!
MHA’s highly anticipated work experience programme is back, and it's better than ever before! If you're a Year 12 student eager to explore the dynamic world of accounting, then this opportunity is for you.
The MHA Leading with Ambition Work Experience Programme is taking place from July 1st to July 5th. But brace yourself; this isn't your average work experience opportunity.
“The red one will make your exams stress-free. The blue one is a Tic-Tac.”
So what’s the catch? Well, okay, that magic potion doesn’t exist – but if there’s one thing that comes pretty darn close, it’s meditation.
At Yipiyap, we’re such keen advocates of this practice that we even run monthly meditation sessions for all our employees. You don’t need a coach guiding you to get started, though – try this short meditation out and see for yourself:
Choose a space where you feel safe and comfortable, wrap yourself up in something warm or just kick off those shoes and socks.
Sitting or lying comfortably, take some deep breaths in through the nose and out through your mouth.
Listen to the sounds around you, notice them and then let them drift away.
Focus on the top of your head and scan the length of your body all the way down to your toes. Notice how your body feels. Visualise your arms, hands, fingers.
Notice the rhythm of your breath, rising and falling.
Let your mind wander on to distractions around you, focus on them and then let them go.
Follow your breath again, become aware of the sounds around you, then slowly open your eyes…
Feeling calm and centred? It’s great having a simple meditation process in your back pocket, so you can break it out for a 5-minute (or even 1-minute!) session if you become anxious in class or notice yourself getting worried over work.
Meditation apps like Headspace and Calm can help you along with guided sessions of different lengths too.
Don’t forget, if you do begin to feel that way and you are finding it hard to manage, make sure you check in with your Form Tutor or Head of Year for advice on wellbeing and reach out for support – meditation is just one tool in the box to help you out.
