A Babcock apprenticeship gives you hands-on technical experience in the workplace while also undertaking a college course on a part-time basis. As you progress through your career, further education opportunities become available for those who choose to obtain higher level qualifications. We are very proud that apprentices choose to stay with us long after completing their apprenticeship.

How to apply to become a Babcock apprentice

The majority of our apprenticeship vacancies are published on our website at the beginning of November, however further vacancies may be published through to the end of March.

Applications based on predicted grades are acceptable.

Recruitment process:

Application

Search our full list of apprentice vacancies and follow the on-screen process to apply online. We’ll keep in touch with you by email, so make sure you give us the right address and complete all sections marked with an * .The application form may take you some time to complete – don’t worry, you can save what you’ve done and come back to it later. We don’t see your application until you submit it. 

Shortlisting:

We’ll send you an email to let you know we’ve received your application, before reviewing it. We’ll let you know how your application is going, mainly by email.

Assessment:

Psychometric Testing:

If you’re shortlisted, you may be asked to complete a range of online ability tests.

Interview/Assessment Centre:

If successful we’ll invite you for an interview and possibly an assessment centre, this varies by discipline. Should you attend an assessment centre which is delivered virtually or in person, you will be engaging with fellow candidates and managers and will be given a series of tasks and activities to complete.

Offer of employment:

We normally make an offer of employment shortly after the interview/assessment centre. If you’re joining a division where you need security clearance, you’ll need to complete that process first, which takes 10 to 12 weeks.
