General Information

Q: When is the conference?
A: The conference will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Eastern Time).

Q: Where is the conference being held?
A: The conference is fully virtual and will be hosted on Zoom. A link to join will be provided after registration and authentication.

Q: What is the theme of the conference?
A: Thanks to the powerful, contest-winning submission from Nicole Deggins of Sista Midwife Productions, the theme of the 2025 Black Midwives Day Virtual Conference is: "Black Midwives are the Past, Present, and Future!" 


Registration and Access

Q: How do I register for the conference?
A: Visit our Registration Page to complete your registration. Once registered and payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email. 

Q: When will I receive the information to access the Zoom meeting?
A: You will receive an email with a unique Zoom access link closer to the event date. This link is personalized and cannot be shared.

Q: Will I need to authenticate to join the Zoom meeting?
A: Yes, authentication is required for security purposes. Please log in to Zoom using the same email you used during registration.

Q: I lost my Zoom access link. How can I retrieve it?
A: Please check your email inbox or spam folder for the confirmation email. If you still cannot find it, please contact conference@blackmidwivesalliance.org for assistance.


Technical Requirements

Q: What do I need to participate in the conference?
A: You will need:

Q: What version of Zoom do I need?
A: Please ensure you’re using the latest version of Zoom. You can update or download Zoom at Zoom Download.

Q: I can't download Zoom. Can I still attend the conference?
A: Yes, you can access the Zoom Web App by using a compatible web browser. You will still be required to log in using the same email you used during conference registration. We do not recommend joining via phone. 

Q: What if I experience technical difficulties during the conference?
A: Technical support will be available throughout the event. Contact conference@blackmidwivesalliance.org for immediate assistance.


Conference Features

Q: Will there be live Q&A sessions?
A: Yes, live Q&A sessions will be held during selected sessions. You will be able to submit your questions via the Zoom Q&A feature, which is separate from the Zoom chat.

Q: Can I turn my camera on during the conference?
A: Yes, but it is optional. For interactive sessions, having your camera on is encouraged to foster engagement.

Please note that NBMA staff will by taking video and still photographs during the conference.

Q: Are there breaks during the conference?
A: Yes, there will be scheduled breaks between sessions. Please refer to the detailed agenda for specific times.


Payments

Q: Is there a registration fee for the conference?
A: NBMA is committed to making this conference accessible to all participants, regardless of financial circumstances. To support financial equity and inclusivity, we are offering a donation-based, sliding scale registration fee based on your financial capacity. If you are in a position to contribute, we strongly encourage donations to support the work of NBMA at this critical juncture in our growth.


Suggested Donations:

*All registration-based donations are non-refundable. Once a registration is completed, no refunds will be issued.
