Expectations

We will follow the Eight Expectations for Living in Great Expectations.

1. We will value one another as unique individuals.

2. We will not laugh at or make fun of a person’s mistakes nor use sarcasm or putdowns.

3. We will use good manners, saying “please,”“thank you,” and “excuse me” and allow other to go first.

4. We will cheer each other to success.

5. We will help one another whenever possible.

6. We will recognize every effort and applaud it.

7. We will encourage each other to do our best.

8. We will practice virtuous living, using the Life Principles.

Life Principle of the Week

The Life Principles are character traits that support the 8 Expectations for Living. Developing character in students can be done through the use of classic literature, poetry, quotations, or as themes. We will focus on all the Life Principles throughout the year as a school. Our first Life Principle will be cooperation. We hope that as your children begin to recognize each trait, they will begin to "live it".

The Life Principles are citizenship, commitment, common sense, compassion, cooperation, courage, courtesy, curiosity, dedication, effort, empathy, esprit de corps, flexibility, forgiveness, fortitude, friendship, honest, humanitarianism, humility, initiative, integrity, justice, loyalty, optimism, patience, patriotism, perseverance, problem-solving, propriety, resiliency, respect, responsibility, self-discipline, service, sincerity, and temperance.

We will refer to the magic triad in the classroom. It is a visual that reminds us to use a kind touch, kind words, and to wear a kind smile.

I always try and recognize and positively reinforce appropriate behavior. If something happens that I feel needs to be discussed, I will contact you by note, phone, or email.
