Important Classroom Policies

  • Most quizzes are open notes. It is important to develop good note taking strategies before high school. Your child needs to find a system that works well for them. Notebooks will not be taken up and graded, but emphasis is placed on the importance of taking notes. Quizzes cannot be retaken.
  • Tests will not be open notes. Students who earn below a 70% do have the option to retake the test with the highest score possible being a 70%. Tests must be retaken within 1 week of the original test date. It is the student's responsibility to let me know they want to retake the test and to schedule a time after school. Students will take the test during 7th period.
  • Extra Credit is available throughout the semester and will be posted in the weekly lesson plans. The extra credit opportunities coorelate to the chapter of study. Students need to complete the guided reading worksheets available with our textbook. These will need to be printed, completed, and turned in by the due date. They will not be accepted late. Directions to the online book are available at the end of the lesson plan page.
  • Regular classroom work/daily work will be accepted late for half credit.
  • Projects will not be accepted late.
  • Tardies will be assigned. Repeated tardies will result in consequences.
    • 1st-3rd tardies are warnings, but are recorded.
    • 4th tardy is the tardy essay on their own time
    • 5th tardy will result in a detention (7th hour)
    • 6th tardy will be referred to the office
  • Lab Make-Up days will be available. Students who are absent during a lab will be given the opportunity to stay after school and repeat the lab. All data/graphs/lab writes associated with the missed lab are still required. If they choose to not make up the lab, they will have to complete the rest of the work using a classmate's data.
  • All students will need to return a Lab Safety Form before they will be allowed to participate in any labs. A copy is available below.
