Makerspace

What is Makerspace?

Our Makerspace allows students time to learn, explore, and collaborate with peers through the use of hands-on materials in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.). Makerspace complements classroom learning objectives and aligns with the American Association of School Libraries Standards Framework for Learners.

Our Makerspace was launched through a grant awarded to the BNI Library by the Bixby Educational Endowment Foundation in 2018. Additional learning kits and materials have been purchased with proceeds from our Scholastic Book Fairs and generous donations. Materials in our Makerspace include a green screen production kit, assorted block-building kits, Cubelets by Modular Robotics, crafting supplies, science project books, drawing and origami books, and an assortment of introductory materials in the areas of coding and circuitry.
