Medication policy

If it is necessary for a student to bring prescription, nonprescription, or over-the-counter medicines to school, a “Parental Authorization to Administer Medication” form must be completed and signed by the parent/guardian. The forms are downloadable from the forms page or available in the attendance or nurse's office.

Medications must be kept in the nurse's office.

For the safety and well-being of every student, the parent/guardian is encouraged to deliver medication to the school if possible (as opposed to sending with the student).

Both prescription and non-prescription medications must be brought to school in their original containers with the proper labeling and your student’s name on the container.

Prescription medications must be in the original container, and contain the prescription label including the students' name, medication strength / dosage, date, and physician's name.

If your student takes medicine daily, please contact the school nurse. In order for us to contact you, it is extremely important that all telephone numbers be kept current. Please notify the office or nurse with any new contact info.

The district retains the right to reject request for the administration of medicines and to discontinue the administration of medicines. Full medicine administration guidelines can be found in the school board policy revision.
