Classroom Expectations
Redo policy- Students may redo any assignment once. Students will put a star by the problems they redid and work the problem out. They also need a brief explanation on why they got the problem wrong (ie they accidently skipped the problem, they didn't add or subtract correctly, they missed a step in the order of operations, etc). I found this makes students think about what they did wrong and keeps them from rushing to finish their redo work, plus allows for deeper thinking. Students are allowed to redo quizzes and test after having 48 hours to study the material again. If students need help, they are more than welcome to come in before school or during lunch to get help from me.
Bellwork- 2-5 math problems that are review of previous or current material we are covering in class. Students are required to complete the problems at the beginning of class each day.
Math Notebook- Students will use a composition notebook to take notes, glue in math foldables, and keep the vocabulary for each chapter.
Assignments- Daily assignments will be given and will be graded at the beginning of class the next day. Homework will be a result of daily work not completed in class.
Late Work- All assignments that are not finished in class will be due the next day unless otherwise instructed. If a student fails to complete his or her assignment upon the due date a 10% deduction will be taken for work turned in 1-2 days late. A 25% deduction will be taken for anything three or more days late. Please be proactive and use the SNAP room if you will not have time to finish an assignment at home.
Make-up Work- If a student is absent it is their responsibility to check the ABSENTEE CENTER. Students have 1 days for every day they are absent to complete and turn in make-up work.
IXL- IXL is a great tool for your child to practice skills learned in class at home. The website is ixl.com. Students will be given an user name and password.
Powerschool- Your child will come home with a password and user id for you to access their grades, attendance, lunch balance and many other options.
