Our comprehensive and engaging primary school curriculum is built on the best of global and UK standards, and features the English and Welsh National Curriculum, Cambridge Primary and International Primary Curriculum. English is taught as discrete subject through Cambridge Primary as well as through interdisciplinary themes where relevant. Mathematics is taught using the Abacus scheme. The remainder of the curriculum is integrated into exciting themes and delivered through the International Primary Curriculum. ICT contributes to learning and teaching in all areas and is integrated into teaching throughout the curriculum, as well as being taught as a discrete subject. Art, Languages, Music and Physical Education (PE) classes are taught by specialist teachers.
BIST follows the Cambridge curriculum from the UK. Topics covered over the year are:

We use the Abacus programme to teach Mathematics covering all aspects of the UK curriculum. We will be covering:

In addition we will work on problem solving and using relevant real life situations to enhance the learning.
The International Primary Curriculum is a thematic and creative curriculum. Subject goals cover the knowledge, skills and understanding of children relating to the subjects they are learning. There are subject learning goals for Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, ICT & Computing, Technology, History, Geography, Music, Physical Education, Art and Society.
Outdoor Learning is defined as learning outdoors. The skills learned during Outdoor Learning are team work, independence, problem solving, risk taking and respect for nature. Lessons such as reading or Mathematics can be taught outside and this will happen regularly throughout the school day. There will also be scheduled sessions running on Monday and Wednesday afternoons (12:50-14:25) that will be led by our Forest Schools teacher, Mr Ashley. These sessions will take place in school and at Lisi Lake. The children will have opportunities to learn outdoors and use resources such as ropes, hammocks, bug pots, knives and outdoor kettles.
Children learn Russian, Georgian, French and Spanish, rotating every 9 weeks with 3 lessons a week.
Music, art and singing are taught once a week by specialist teachers.
PE is taught by specialist teachers once a week. Swimming coaches are invited to teach swimming one a week. The outdoor grounds allow for basketball, volleyball, football, running and other sports.
