Understand the requirement of the writing exam. When you read through the questions on the paper, keep this in mind:
There are five concepts:
Audience:
This refers to WHO your text is aimed at. Knowing your audience helps you to make decisions about what information you should include, how to arrange the information, what kind of supporting details you need. It also influences the tone and structure of the writing.
Context:
Context is the information surrounding the information.
Purpose:
What is your intention to produce the text. Is it inform, reflect, analyse or summarise?
Meaning:
It refers to what is communicated, by intention or by implication. It sometimes refers to as "message".
Variation:
There is more than one way of saying or writing the same thing.
