Introducing the Legacy Empower[Ed] Team:
The Empower[Ed] Program has two sites: BPS Career Academy and Legacy High School
Mrs. Elkins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (Secondary Education) from Mayville State University and a Master of Science in Teaching and Leadership with an emphasis in Biology Education from the University of North Dakota. She is entering her 18th year of teaching and her 7th year at Legacy High School. Mrs. Elkins serves as the Science Department Chair at Legacy and is also an adjunct professor at Bismarck State College. This year, she will be teaching Integrated Science as part of the Empower[Ed] team.
Mrs. Jacobson has taught many different business electives at Legacy for the past nine years. She earned her B.S. degree in Business Education from the University of Mary and M. Ed. in Education from Minot State University. Mrs. Jacobson will be teaching Marketing 1 & 2, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, and School Based Enterprise for the Empower[Ed] team.
Brent Ritter
Brent has taught in Bismarck Public Schools since 2023. He will be teaching US History, Government, and Economics for the Empower[Ed] team at both Legacy HS and the Career Academy. Brent is in his 24th year of teaching and coaching at various cities and states. Originally from Mound City, SD, and a graduate of the University of Mary (BA & MA), Brent is happy to be back home close to family and friends. Fun Fact: Brent is very colorblind so ask him what color shirt he is wearing.
Mrs. Key earned her B.A. in English from the University of North Dakota. She has taught secondary English Language Arts for 17 years, and will be teaching English 11 and 12 for the Legacy Empower[Ed] Team.
