Preparing Bismarck's students for a changing world
What's it all about?
Empower[Ed] is a personalized path to graduation based on who students are and how they learn best. Empower[Ed] launched in 2021 at the Bismarck Career Academy. Following the success of the model, Legacy High School launched their own section of Empower[Ed] as well.
Whether you've already got career plans and aspirations, or aren't sure what you want to do after high school, Empower[Ed] can provide opportunities to earn the credits that you need to graduate while engaging in authentic, self-directed learning in areas that are interesting to you. We're here to empower every learner to thrive!
What makes Empower[Ed] different?
Community-embedded projects
Empower[Ed] learners engage in community projects throughout the school year. We often lean on our Career & Technical Education capacities to solve problems for those in need.

Student-centered learning
Empower[Ed] learners daily make important decisions about their learning experiences, how they will create and apply knowledge and how they will demonstrate their learning.
Students progress based on evidence of mastery or competency, not seat time or assignment completion.
Rigorous, common expectations for learning are explicit, transparent, measurable and transferable.
