Throughout history, natural disasters, disease, war, and many other vessels of chaos have plagued humanity. Hurricanes have flattened houses, fires have decimated cities, and droughts have smothered entire nations with cloaks of dry earth, but even in our darkest moments when ash and smoke block out the gentle rays of sunlight, one piece of humanity persists. It lies in the tombs of the buried, mixed into paint on cave walls, woven deep beneath fibers of hand-sewn clothes.

Stronger than any afflictions, love is the most powerful beacon of change. Like a string winding around our unpredictable planet tying together the peoples of the world, love binds with tender conviction. Humans have derived hope and safety from the love of their communities for thousands of years, prospering with their care like a well-watered sapling branching off into a life-bearing tree. It is only through affection and togetherness that we find our true purpose on Earth, the fruit of our endeavors, our true exaltations.

Now, more than ever before, it is dangerously important to achieve authentic human connection. In a world of artificial expression and superficial displays of success, we must strive to be true to ourselves. We all have a unique place in society, a community waiting for our ideas and innovations, but it is up to us all to see past the brutality of our world and look to the beautiful people that emerge from its ruins. Love is hidden, and it’s up to us to find it.

The span of human history is a collage, a work of art that people have been refining since the dawn of civilization. Each generation adds their own story, their own ideas, their own dreams. The greatest feat you can accomplish in life is stitching your own piece of this great quilt and leaving an impact that will last centuries more.
