Nate Welstad

Coach Welstad is in his 5th season as the Patriots head coach. The Patriots have a record of 79-22 while under the leadership of Coach Welstad. His teams have played in 3 state championship games in the last 4 years. They have won the conference regular season title twice and the WDA tournament twice. Before taking over the CHS girls program Coach Welstad spent 12 years as an assistant coach for the CHS boys basketball team. During that time the boys' team compiled an overall record of 216-65, winning two state titles, finishing runners up twice, and were regular season champs five times. Before that he was assistant coach at the University of Mary from 2003-2009. He also spent one year as an assistant coach at Glenburn High School. Nate is a 2002 graduate of the University of Mary and also played four years for the Marauders men's basketball team. He currently teaches math at Century High School. Nate is married to Kari, they have 4 children – Kaden (17), Kaylie (15), Nash (10), and Natalie (8).

Matt Thorton

Coach Thorton is in his 5th season as an assistant coach for the Patriots. Before joining the staff, Coach Thorton spent 7 seasons as an assistant coach for the BHS boys basketball team. During that time the team won three state championships and had two runner up seasons. Matt currently teaches economics at Legacy High School. He is married to Pam and they have 2 children- Kinley (15) and Eve (13).

Mike Wolff

Coach Wolff is in his 5th season as the Patriots Assistant coach. Before joining the CHS girls program he spent 2 years assisting and 2 years as the head coach at WTPR. In those years he helped lead the Wildcats to 4 straight regional tournaments and a 5th place finish in the State B Boys Basketball Tournament. Since then he has enjoyed coaching elementary and traveling girls basketball teams.

Mike is currently employed with KFYR-TV as a Senior Account Executive. Mike is married to his wife Kari. They have two daughters Layken (16), Libby (11).

Tricia Klemisch

Coach Klemish, a Century High School alumni, returns for another year as an assistant coach at Century. Just like the past couple of years Coach Sorensen will coach the Patriots Sophomore team. Coach Klemisch was previously an assistant coach at Century from 2013-2015 before becoming the head volleyball coach at Shiloh Christian. Tricia played 4 years of college basketball at Concordia College where she was the 10th player in school history to score 1,000+ points and have 500+ rebounds, she was also named a WBCA All-American Honorable Mention.

Darrin Johnson

Coach Johnson is in his third season as the Patriots Assistant coach. Coach Johnson works for Nokak Insurance. When he is not serving the community with this insurance expertise, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and the beautiful ND outdoors with his wife and two sons.

Caylee Wilke

Coach Wilke is in her third season as the Patriots Assistant coach. Coach Wilke is currently a student at the University of Mary studying Speech and Language Pathology. She is originally from Dickinson, North Dakota and played at South Heart where she was named an All-Region player three years in a row. Outside of basketball, she enjoys spending time with her family, and friends, and coaching her younger siblings in travel basketball.
