Reese Turner | Senior
Reese Turner competes in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4x1, and 4x2 relays—along with hurdles. “I’m really looking forward to State and getting to feel the adrenaline rush of the large crowd,” Turner said. “This year is bittersweet. It's been pretty sad knowing it's my last season with the CHS track team, but I am excited to continue my track career with the Bemidji State Beavers in the fall.” For the remainder of the season, Turner hopes to earn a PR (Personal Record) in all her running events as well as grow as a hurdler since it is her first year in the event.

Alexis Heinle | Sophomore
Alexis Heinle competes in long jump, high jump, and triple jump. She feels the indoor meets “don’t compare to the outdoor meets” but is “still glad [the team] can compete and do our events” even if they are inside. This is Heinle’s second year in track, and she hopes to qualify for State in long jump and high jump. She described the girls jumping coach, Brad Townshend, as very experienced and patient. “He is such a nice person,” Heinle said. “The jumpers are so grateful to have him.”

Eden Fridley | Senior
Eden Fridley competes in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4x1 and 4x2 relays, along with high jump. Fridley joined the CHS track and field team when she was in seventh grade. As the snow begins to melt, Fridley is excited to get outside for practice along with outdoor meets. “I love the end of May when it’s time for State because that meet is the most packed and the most fun,” Fridley said. “The girls have been running really good times and making PRs. The team looks very strong and competitive this season, which is exciting.” Fridley aspires to qualify in all of her events, win her relays at state, and drop her personal times.
Josh Berger | Junior
Josh Berger competes as a mid-distance runner in the 200, 400, 800, and 4x4 and 4x8 relays. Berger has competed in track and field for the past four years.
During the off-season, Berger joined cross country and worked on speed conditioning to get ready for the season. “I am excited to see how all my hard work in the off-season pays off,” Berger said.
The beginning of the season has been promising for Berger as he just set the new indoor state record in the 400 with a time of 49.28. “It felt pretty good. I put in a lot of work,” Berger said. Berger shares that, as he continues the season, he aspires to break the school record in the 400. Currently, the school record for the 400 is 47.78, and Berger holds a 49.28. “I would like to thank Coach Weisz and Lies for contributing to my success,” Berger said.

Katelyn Brown
Junior Katelyn Brown competes in various throwing events including javelin, shot put, long jump, and discus. She has been doing these events since sixth grade. She is excited about “traveling and being with my friends at meets.” She wants to “push myself to my best ability and feel accomplished after every meet and practice.”
Alexa Delzer | Senior
Alexa Delzer is in the midst of her third season of track and field. Delzer is a thrower for the team and competes in shot put and discus events. The beginning of the season has been promising. “The team has been working hard and will continue to do so the remainder of the season,” Delzer said. Delzer’s main focus this season is to qualify in at least two of her events and hopefully make it to state. As the outdoor season approaches, Delzer anticipates “getting outside and obtaining qualifying marks.”

Lindsey Shroeder | Senior
Lindsey Shroeder is in her fourth year of track. She is a distance runner who also runs cross country in the fall. Looking forward to outdoor meets, she is most excited for “sunburns and team bonding.” Unfortunately, Shroeder has been injured and unable to compete for the majority of the indoor season. This season, she hopes to run her personal best in the 800 meter race.
Lauryn Caster | Senior
Lauryn Caster began her first season of high school track. Caster expressed that her reasoning behind joining this season is “to get a different sense of training for swimming.” This season Caster is running distance and sprint events. “I am excited to spend time with the team along with seeing personal growth and hopefully getting a qualifying time,” Caster said.
