Mission: "All students will have the academic, social, and personal skills to be career, college, and community ready."
Vision: "Together, we inspire a passion for learning, discovery, and excellence."
Why are we doing this?
Bismarck Public Schools has an obligation to prepare all students for an ever-changing world, that sees technological advancements happening at a rapid rate. 21st century students need to harness technology to be effective creators, problem solvers, collaborators, and communicators. They must use technology to collaborate with others in communities beyond their own. We believe that every student has a right to an education that prepares them for further education and future employment, and develops the success skills that they need as citizens of the 21st Century:
What does 1:1 really mean?
A 1:1 program represents the most comprehensive technology integration program available for instructional purposes. It requires that every student and teacher involved has direct access to a personal computing device at all times.
Is there any research to support the implementation of 1:1 technology?
There is a growing body of evidence which documents positive gains collected from 1:1, technology-rich learning environments. Conclusions drawn from available research include favorable outcomes for students, staff, and the community. Examples include, but are not limited to:
● Increased academic test scores
● Increased student engagement
● Improvement in student and staff attendance.
● Reductions in student behavior problems.
● Increased parental interest in school activities.
● Improved student and staff morale.
● Improved teaching pedagogy toward problem based learning

What is the plan?
At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, all BPS high school students will be issued a Chromebook. Each year BPS high school students complete a Digital Etiquette Class that helps students become expert users and consumers of technology. Each year the class has a different focus.

Parents and students need to review and digitally sign the Chromebook permission form. http://tinyurl.com/Chromebook2017
