Attention:
The Honorable Mason Carter, M.D.
Superintendent, Florida State Penitentiary for the Criminally Insane.
Dr. Carter -
I write this letter to you today in regards to patient #58144, alias "The Misfit." As a licensed psychiatrist in the state of Georgia, it is my firm and most confident professional recommendation that this patient be admitted to your facility at once, and placed under maximum security supervision of your most highly trained hospital staff and security personnel. Patient has demonstrated repeated patterns of violent, dissociative tendencies, and should be considered incredibly dangerous.
Without his glasses, The Misfit's eyes may appear "red-rimmed and pale and defenseless-looking" (O'Connor 14). But do not be fooled. This is just one of his many clever deceptions that the patient will use in an attempt to garner sympathy. He is a cold-blooded killer, with a history of violet outbursts that can appear with sudden fury and no warning. Eyewitness reports corroborate at least one such scene where this patient is reported to have executed an elderly woman in cold blood and with no motive. Most concerning from my professional standpoint, is that his apparent reason for this brutal murder was triggered by a moment of genuine human connection -- when the victim attempted to embrace him, saying "Why you're one of my babies. You're one of my own children!" and The Misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and shot her three times through the chest. (O'Connor 14). The patient is dangerously manipulative and lacking in any semblance of virtue.
This is a video observation of The Misfit in his natural state of behavior. Note the fondness for garish tropical print shirts (O'Connor 12). This proclivity suggests a severe disconnect with social norms at best, or at worst may in fact be evidence of deeper delusion and an attempt to "escape" to a far-flung world of fantasy rather than embracing the very real and very permanent nature of this individual's crimes. The so-called "Misfit" sees himself as a sort of self-styled messiah of an atypical social group, frequently making comparisons between himself and the Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (O'Connor 11). This can likewise explain his close association with the menacing and freakish company of the two oversized men who accompany him in the woods, known only by the aliases of "Hiram" and "Bobby Lee." Both men follow orders of this self-styled prophet of darkness, to the point where they have demonstrated willingness to kill defenseless women and children upon his instruction. In the video shown here, one of these men wears the mask of a sheep -- suggesting that The Misfit may have a sort of shepherd like quality over the lost souls who keep company as his flock.
It is my fervent professional recommendation that patient #58144, a.k.a. "The Misfit" be admitted to your institution at once. His delusions of grandeur, messianic complex, and violent tendencies make him a proven menace to society, and he should be isolated from all other inmates and strongly considered as a candidate for trans-orbital lobotomy.
