I am honored to serve the students, families, and staff here at STEAM Academy at Stribling Elementary every day! It's a wonderful place for a child to experience their first adventures in schooling and prepare for future success in education and life.
I grew up in a small West Texas town called Crane, where many in my family were teachers before me. I saw how hard they worked and the differences they made, and in my heart I knew I was a teacher too. Upon graduating from Crane High School, I attended Texas A&M University in College Station, earning my English and Spanish teaching certifications. I then taught both high school and elementary before becoming a campus administrator at Stribling Elementary in 2012.
Mr. Hinkle and I have three children, and we have lived here in Burleson for 23 years. Next school year we will have two sons at Texas A&M and one daughter at Centennial High Shool. You'll see us around town at ball games and school activities or walking our huge black lab, Annie.
Our family enjoys traveling, camping, and following the Texas Aggies! My hobbies also include sewing, reading, and photography. Learning about STEAM education and the Maker Movement has been exciting for me, as I have always been a creative maker myself. A common phrase you'll hear me say is, "I could make that," and I love to inspire students to say that too!
Some of my favorite things about being an educator are getting to know our students and families, supporting you through challenges and successes, and trying new things right along with you!
