All About Me!

Welcome to Fourth Grade and to Mrs. Rakowski’s class! I want to introduce myself and give you a bit of information about me! My name is Jennifer Rakowski. This will be my 5th year in Burleson ISD. I previously taught in Everman ISD and White Settlement ISD. I have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade Dual Language, and Fourth Grade.

I grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School. I have a double Bachelors degree in English and Government from Texas Woman’s University and my Masters in Teaching, also from Texas Woman’s University.

I am married to Mike, who is also a teacher, and we have 3 wonderful children; Samantha (21), Lane (8), and Lila (5). We also have 2 wild and crazy Pugs, Bear and Boone and our newest addition, a kitten named Lucy. In my spare time I love crafting and Do It Yourself projects, and I love spending time with my family…especially my 2 brothers and 2 sisters! My favorite color is orange and I love Sonic fountain drinks!

My teaching philosophy is simple. All children have the ability to learn. A classroom should be a place where students feel safe and confident, and should encourage exploration. Students should benefit intellectually, physically, and emotionally from their learning environment.

I am excited to begin this 2016-2017 school year, and I look forward to our combined efforts to help your child succeed! Fourth grade is an exciting year. Lots of growth in all subjects and certainly physically and socially. It is important to this growth that you work with your student at home daily to reinforce what we are learning at school. Don’t forget that they are excited about all of this new knowledge and they love to share what they’ve learned!

Please feel free to email or call if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year. Please watch for information about Google Classroom for parents coming soon. This will be a great resource to keep you up to date and what's going on in 4th grade! We are in this together and our focus is the same…your student’s success! Thank you for sharing your child with me!
