Growing up in Nebraska and teaching since 2001! Ten years in Colorado and nine years in Texas helped to mold me into the educator I am today! Happily married five years ago, I enjoy country living in Joshua with many little critters ( seven dogs and seven goats) and a large family in the community. My three children are grown and left the nest some time ago which has also made me a grandmother! My oldest (Michelle) lives in Colorado with three grand babies, my youngest (Melissa) lives in Texas, and my son(Ryan) and 5 grand babies are in NC.
We will dive into a new exciting year of exploring and learning our new normal together! In my classroom, I encourage independence as we develop our problem solving abilities while working on the mindset of continued growth. I have many years of teaching experience with opportunities filled with various roles in education. I am excited to begin my twentieth year as an educator and continue to work with fellow teachers, parents and students to insure a successful year. We will deepen our understanding of great authors and explore many avenues for technology and visual thinking throughout all subject areas. I have implemented a “Peter Pan” themed room inspired by attending the “Ron Clark Academy” with my 5th grade team. I also love farm theme as I currently have 18 goats and I love to share the new babies!
My Master's of Arts degree focused on Literacy, Language and Culture. This degree has put me into leadership roles as I have mentored many teachers in varying areas of literacy in addition to training my fellow professionals in the use of various technology tools. I look forward to learning from them as well and being a partner in your child's education. This will be an an adventurous year filled with big ideas and great growth.
