About Master Sergeant Mims
Master Sergeant (Retired) Richard Mims was born in Lubbock, TX He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in August 1984. After retiring from active duty MSgt Mims entered the education profession in 2005 as a Junior Cadet Corp Instructor in Fort Worth Independent School District. He taught there until August 2007. He was hired as a current member of the Burleson Independent School District team in 2007 as an Aerospace Science Instructor. MSgt Mims is married to the former Ms. La Vonna Hartman of Wichita Falls TX. They have two children, a daughter named Cueneshia (28 years old) and a son Richard II (21 years old). MSgt Mims has a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College- Missouri and Associate Degree in Logistics from the Community College of the Air Force.

I have 32 years of service in the Air Force and Air National Guard. I retired from the Air Force in January 2013 and immediately began teaching JROTC in BISD. I have a Master of Science Degree in International Relations from Troy University.
